Hour of Saint Francis Fan Club

I put together a group with all of the “Hour of St. Francis” shows that I’ve put out on the Internet. As an old time radio aficionado and a Catholic priest, it just makes sense.

The Hour of St. Francis Fan Club shows (only if you are registered with MyCatholicVoice)

I just noticed that you have to be a member of the group to view the group’s contents. You can still see the same shows (and a few others) without being a member at this link. All the MP3 files listed can be downloaded for free.

Vacation Activities

Concord Tape Deck
Working with an old reel to reel tape deck to transfer some recordings. I’ve found some episodes of “The Hour of St. Francis” radio program. Here are links to 2 episodes (can be downloaded as MP3 files):
Mr. Tompkins and St. Francis
The Victory of Father Karl
These episodes are different from the two circulating among old time radio collectors.
Update: a third episode: Out of the Depths

The above picture shows the Concord tape deck I’m working with. It’s an old gem. It says “transistorized,” but there are still some tubes in there.

Clubhouse Pow

On an extreme tangent, I found this little video which I immediately related to. I was one of the kids who played the “Clubhouse Pow” game the video refers to. I came away with second place that day (out of 3) and received a “TV 11 SUPER SUMMER” t-shirt as a consolation prize. It was a rather brief experience of being on a TV game show.

I remember Mr. Heim from TJ and the ANT, which I watched quite a few Friday nights.

The Ultra-Obscure Jordan Aumann, O.P. LP set (Listen Here)

Have you seen this LP set lately?

Jordan Aumann LP

Jordan Aumann, O.P. Conferences on the Religious Life for the Sisters, ACTA Publications

I can’t find any mention of it anywhere on the Internet.
So, here’s the first mention.

This set is, as one would expect, excellent. There is an abundance of quality food-for-thought. Although it is directed to sisters, priests and brothers can learn a thing or two from it also. Many of the principles discussed are common to all types of religious life. The vows are still the same vows that religious have been professing for a long, long time.

Here is the first conference: Vocation to Perfection
The second conference: Until Death.
The third conference: Obedience.
The fourth conference: Chastity.
The fifth conference: Poverty.
The sixth conference: The Common Life.
The seventh conference: The Constitutions.
The eighth conference: The Religious Superior.
Love, Hallmark of Sanctity

Back from Stockbridge and a Papal Mass

The postulants and I went to Stockbridge and from there to Yankee Stadium to attend the Papal Mass on Sunday. It was a wonderful event. The Pope’s emphasis on true freedom echoed the words of Pope John Paul II at the last Papal Mass in the US which I attended–back at Camden Yards in 1995. At that time Pope John Paul II said, “Every generation of Americans needs to know that freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought.”

Videos of the Pope’s visit can still be viewed at the USCCB site. I don’t know how long they will continue to make them available.

Playlist

You too can listen to my Last.fm playlist. It’s rather eclectic, but largely Catholic.
