Bad News
If you know where to look, you can find news on some awful things going on around the world. The Myanmar situation is the tip of the iceberg. For instance, there has been a war in Sri Lanka since 1983. 1983! Imagine living in a war zone for 24 years, and the fighting continues. Did you know there is a war there?
Fortunately, we are called to walk by faith and not by sight. God’s providence is at work in the world. Sometimes it is more difficult to see and sometimes it is much easier. Our hope should be centered in God–He is in control. Keep praying, especially for peace.
Eucharistic Apostles of The Divine Mercy
A little video on the Eucharistic Apostles:
What about the Congo?
There is such awful news about what is going on the Congo, but the US media does not seem very interested.
It’s not important enough? It’s not going to boost ratings?
It’s definitely something to pray about. Lord, bless the refugees.
Testimony Video On-line
The original testimony video of Fr. Don Calloway is available online as a free download. This is the video made before No Turning Back and shot in Medjugorje. The site tells Catholic youth with a video IPod to download the MP4 version and show it to their friends on the IPod.
If you get a cheap “MP4” player (something like this), and then download the Windows Media Player format video and convert it (with provided software) to a format that works on the “MP4” player. The ironic thing about these players is that the software only works with a PC and normally can’t handle the MP4 (Mac-based) format, but can work with WMV. Of course, there is always a way to convert a video file if you know what you’re doing.
How a Recording’s Status Can Change
I purchased an LP called This is the Mass. Although there is no copyright date, it was clearly produced before Vatican II. Here is the original cover:
Here is what the cover could have been changed to if the album had been re-released in the 1970s:
Now, thanks to the new Motu Proprio, the album could be released with this cover:
A Severe Mercy
It’s going to be made into a movie…
I read the book years back for a Philosophy of Love class and found it to be probably the best book I had to read for any class (except of course Sacred Scripture) and a true classic, but I never thought about anyone producing a movie from it.
Yet, I can see it being a great movie, but the acting would have to be top-noch, and the script also. It would be easy to destroy the beauty of the story with poor acting, directing, etc.
I would definitely recommend the book. We shall have to see about the movie. I’ll say some prayers that it turns out bellissima.
Watching the Beatification
Founder of the Marians Beatified
I was able to watch the beatificaiton live on TV Polonia here in Stockbridge. A number of familiar faces were shown, including the rector of the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy, Fr. Anthony Gramlich.
Listen to Fr. Joe Roesch talk about Bl. Stanislaus Papczynski on Vatican Radio.
The website of Bl. Stanislaus Papczynski just changed to reflect his new status.
Here’s an article with lots of details on the beatification.
There are now 4 Blessed Marians. Praise the Lord!
Many Marians are Off to Poland
Although I’m staying in the USA at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy, there will be a very large gathering of Marians in Lichen, Poland, on September 16. Our Founder, Fr. Stanislaus of Jesus and Mary Papczynski, is being beatified!

Cooking Show — a Priest Cooks
The sample videos for the show “Grace Before Meals” shows some promise. Can a priest help a family by cooking in their house? If he’s a good cook, I guess so. This show has a light-hearted approach, but also a serious message.
I still remember Lino Ruli’s “Generation Cross” cooking segment (Lino cooking with a priest), called “Burnt Offerings.” It was one of his funniest segments in the show’s run.
