I visited a number of places today in Rome, such as the Pantheon or the Church of Santa Maria ad Martyres.  Also, we visited Santa Maria sopra Minerva, praying before the tomb of St. Catherine of Siena, and we saw the famous Caravaggio paintings in the Church of St. Luigi Dei Francesi.

It was most definitely a busy, tiring day.  I hope to sleep well tonight.

That’s right. I’m in Roma, Italia.  Just for a week, though.  Hope to have something to report.

I must agree with the Barbara Nicolosi technique for handling the upcoming movie The Da Vinci Code.  Just ignore it.  There will be plenty of media hype.  So what?

The truth will set you free (and save you the price of a movie ticket).

This takes some getting used to.  I concelebrated today, and I had to remind myself not to be a deacon.  I still act as a deacon when I read the Gospel (It’s really the deacon’s ministry.  If there is no deacon, the priest takes on this ministry, but if there is a deacon, he has the first right to it), but I also participate in the Eucharistic prayer.

It’s probably a good thing I don’t know what’s really going on at Mass.  I might be scared to death.  It’s quite a responsibility.

Enjoying time at home, even though the wind chill this morning was 34 below.

I’m on vacation, and snowed in. Wisconsin got hit pretty hard. I was scheduled to celebrate a Mass at a Catholic high school, but school is out today. I celebrated Mass at my parents’ home (another first).

Now I’m listening to a 45 of the Harmonicats – Gallop of the Comedians. They sure can play. That’s right, they are still going after all these years.

Now, it’s Fr. John Larson, not Deacon.

I was to celebrate my first Mass at Brookeville, MD.  However, due to heavy snowfall, I’m celebrating it at the Marian Scholasticate in Washington, DC.

Now, preparing for ordination to the priesthood.  Febuaray 11 is coming quickly!

Reading The Priest is Not His Own by Fulton J. Sheen.  What a great book.
