There’s a new painting at my old Alma Mater, Franciscan University of Steubenville, in the JP II Library.

Today was, indeed, St. Bernadette’s feast day.  I hadn’t really thought of it, but I notice it tonight.  St. Bernadette, pray for us.

While I use the name “Mercy and Mary” for my blog, the terms could have been most fittingly used by Pope John Paul II.  It is very interesting that he died on a First Saturday and the vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday.  Since First Saturday is associated with Our Lady of Fatima, there is both a connection to divine mercy and a connection to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
