A very merry Christmas to those out in Blogging-land. We have a quiet atmosphere here at the Scholasticate in Washington, D.C., preparing for the coming of the Christ child.

A good post
Here’s an excellent post from a guy named Steve Mattson in his In Formation blog. It expresses some rather solid thoughts on evangelization.
Bye bye ring
Got back from the Return of the King. Our whole house went. It is, of course, worth a few viewings. I have an odd situation, since I remember listening to the radio drama about 20 years ago (Wisconsin Public Radio had an all day Lord of the Rings marathon broadcast one day) and not really understanding much (I didn’t listen to it all). However, I heard the last episode and thought it was really cool, even if I didn’t understand it totally. Seeing the climax of the movie made that drama heard 20 years ago fresh in my mind and it all made sense. It’s amazing how memories can be connected over such a long span of time. The crucial climax of the story was powerful even by itself, as a disconnected event, but all the more as part of the whole story.
St. Gatianus
I’ve never heard of St. Gatianus, but he sounds like someone I would like to meet.
Prepare the way.
Since it is Advent, it seems appropriate to talk about preparing the way. Here goes a brand new blog. AMDG.
